Executive Director
Lindsey Jennings serves as Executive Director of Friends of the Stones River National Battlefield. With years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit leadership, she is honored to leverage her expertise and community relationships to advance the Friends’ mission and strengthen support for the battlefield.
A lifelong appreciation for history was instilled in Lindsey by her father, an avid Civil War historian. As a result, battlefield preservation has always held a special place in her heart—especially Stones River National Battlefield, a treasured landmark she feels grateful to have in the heart of her community.
Lindsey and her husband, Thomas Holden Jennings, share a deep connection to local history. Thomas was raised at Springfield, a home built prior to the Civil War just a few miles from the battlefield. Together, they are the proud parents of four daughters who grew up exploring the hiking trails of the battlefield, fostering in their own family a lasting love for history and preservation.
“It is an incredible honor to serve as the first Executive Director of the Friends of Stones River National Battlefield. Raised by a living creature civil war historian, I developed a deep appreciation for battlefield preservation at an early age, and that passion has guided me ever since.
Stones River National Battlefield is not only a site of national historical significance, but also a treasured natural refuge in the heart of our community. It draws visitors from across the country and contributes meaningfully to the economic vitality of Rutherford County. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead this organization into its next chapter.”
